The company is based in the district of Palmarejo Baixo, city of Praia on the island of Santiago. On the island we currently offer rental services for tourist purposes, long-term rental and scooter sales.

We have three scooter models and one quad bike model for rental on Santiago island.

You can find our price list in the table below. Prices change depending on the number of rental days and the chosen model. A deposit of the amount indicated in the table is required, which will be returned when the motorbike is returned in good condition. We accept payment in cash (Escudos and Euros) and VISA.

Please note that there is a maximum limit of 100 km per day for basic scooter rental. If the maximum limit is exceeded, a fee will be charged according to the following table:

If you rent a Taro T9, 125 cc scooter for 1 day, you pay the basic rental rate of 32 euro. When you return the scooter, if you have travelled more than 100 km, a surcharge per kilometer will be applied as indicated in the table.

Practical example: 137 km travelled (T9) = basic rental rate (to be paid at the time of rental) + surcharge per kilometer (to be paid on return) = 32 € + (0.30 € * 37) = 32 € + 11.10 € = 43.10 €

Alternatively, if you wish to rent a scooter for 1 day without mileage restrictions, you can opt for the SPECIAL RENTAL RATE WITH NO KM LIMITS:

In response to increasing demand, Scooter & Quad is now launching a long-term rental service, with a minimum rental period of 30 days, aimed at corporate and private customers throughout Cape Verde.

Companies that own vehicles/motorcycles know well that the costs associated with maintenance, repairs or even an internal or external workshop often overload the coffers and make it impractical to increase the fleet to meet daily needs. The scooter today is the ideal and most practical means of getting around quickly in cities with traffic congestion and limited parking spaces. Long-term rental is the corporate/private solution that allows the customer to enjoy the advantages of driving a scooter, an agile and fast response to daily tasks, with reduced petrol consumption costs.

We offer flexible, unique solutions tailored to the customer’s needs through customized, low-cost packages. We include compulsory liability insurance, maintenance and servicing in our proposals.

Servicing includes:

  • Scheduled overhauls;
  • Change of scooter type up to once every 3 months; minimum rental period of only 15 days in the new type;
  • Replacement scooter for scheduled maintenance, accident or theft;
  • Technical assistance in case of problems.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE RENTAL?

Our rentals include helmet for driver and passenger, compulsory third-party liability insurance, mileage up to 100 km per day (for scooters)

WHAT DO I NEED TO RENT A SCOOTER/QUAD?

To rent a scooter/quad bike, you need an ID card or passport, a credit card or cash for the deposit and a driving license. To rent a scooter/quad you need a driving license that meets the requirements of the Cape Verdean Highway Code.

WHAT LICENCE REGULATIONS DO I HAVE TO CONSIDER?

Up to 124cc: A1 Category
Scooters over 124cc: A Category
Quads: B Category

IS A DEPOSIT NECESSARY?

Yes. A rental deposit must be paid. The deposit can be paid by credit card or cash. No charge will be made if no event occurs that requires it. For deposit amounts, please refer to the Rental section.

CAN I USE THE SCOOTER/QUAD WITH TWO PEOPLE?

Yes. You can drive with a passenger.

CAN I DRIVE WITHOUT A HELMET?

No. It is absolutely forbidden to ride any scooter/quad without a helmet. The passenger and driver must use them. Always remember to respect the Highway Code in force in Cape Verde.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE SCOOTER/QUAD BIKE HAS AN ACCIDENT OR IS STOLEN?

You are covered by third-party damage insurance. For any damage to the scooter, or its theft, you will have to pay the amount stipulated in the contract. If you have taken out extra insurance, you are covered in the event of damage, but not in the event of theft. As soon as this happens, you should call our company immediately and request information on what to do.
In the event of an accident, theft or fire, even partial, of the rented scooter, the customer is obliged to:

a) Report to S&Q the accident, theft or fire, even partial, of the rented scooter, within a maximum period of 2 hours from its occurrence, having at the same time the obligation to report to the police authorities the theft of the scooter, as well as the accident in which personal injury occurs or in which the culpability of the other party must be established;

b) Mentioning in the accident report and in the friendly traffic accident declaration the circumstances in which the accident occurred, the date, time, place, name and address of the owner and driver of the third-party vehicle involved and the registration number, Company insurance and policy number of said third party vehicle, always having the obligation to complete the friendly traffic accident declaration whenever the accident involves a third party;

c) Not declaring themselves, under any circumstances, responsible or at fault for the accident to third parties and/or any witnesses;

d) Do not abandon the scooter without having taken adequate measures to protect it;

e) Call S&Q, even in the event of minor damage or loss, and provide S&Q with a detailed report of what happened;

f) In the event of an accident involving third parties, whenever possible, photograph the vehicles involved in the position in which they were left after the accident, as well as the damage caused to the vehicles concerned.

WHAT IS COVERED BY THE INSURANCE?

The insurance covers damage to third parties.
Damage or theft that the scooter/quad might suffer has a deductible, depending on the scooter/quad model chosen. All accessories (helmets, padlocks…) are not covered by insurance and must be paid for separately in the event of loss or damage.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO TAKE OUT ALL-RISK INSURANCE?

Yes. You can buy extra insurance and you are covered in case of damage, but not in case of theft.

For extra insurance please read the specific conditions of the contract carefully.

IS THERE A DELIVERY/PICKUP SERVICE?

Yes. You can add an extra delivery/pick-up service and we will take your scooter/quad to the most suitable location for you. See our price list at this regard.
Remember that the team will only wait for your arrival for about 20 minutes after the time agreed at the time of booking.

CAN I CHANGE MY RESERVATION?

Yes, you can change your booking more than 24 hours before the start date and time by sending your request to info@scooter-quad.com.
Changes are not permitted within 24 hours before the start of the booking.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I CANCEL MY RESERVATION?

Cancellation policy:

    • If you wish to cancel your reservation, please send an email to info@scooter-quad.com 24 hours in advance;
    • If you cancel more than 24 hours in advance, your refund will be full (100%);
    • Cancellations less than 24 hours before the rental are not permitted. If cancellation is made without prior notice, no refund will be given.
IF I RETURN THE SCOOTER/QUAD IN ADVANCE, WILL I RECEIVE PART OF THE MONEY BACK?

Unfortunately not. Once the contract has begun, we will not make any refunds, including extra accessories.

IS IT NECESSARY TO FILL THE FUEL TANK TO RETURN THE SCOOTER/QUAD?

Yes, you must replenish your deposit until it is at the same level as at the time of withdrawal. Any difference in the level will be charged in accordance with the terms and conditions. No refund will be made if the bike is returned with excess fuel.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO RENT ON A LONG-TERM BASIS?

Yes, for periods longer than 30 days. Please see our section on long-term rentals.
